There’s a mindset in the Body of Christ right now, called Fundamentalism. No matter the belief system, this mindset is available. It’s not about fundamental doctrines. It’s usually so far removed from the fundamentals that were introduced to the church by the apostles to begin with. These people set themselves up as the arbiters of truth. Only they can possibly have it right, and if you disagree with them, you are obviously just wrong, and being blown around by false doctrines of demons.
I wish I was kidding.
A crowd that is unable to show mercy, grace, compassion, and forgiveness as a way of life.
These groups usually end up being the backbones of each stream within the body of Christ, and the tragedy of this is that they can’t get along with the other streams. More to the point, they just won’t.
God’s Spirit is flooding the church, right now, bringing people from different streams together. Shaking up the little droplets in every stream to move them around between streams. Because of this, we begin to learn that other streams really are NOT the enemy. In fact, it turns out they have a different view, a different understanding of the EXACT SAME STORY. When we were told that the way we were taught is the only one that’s right.. What if we learn that everyone has something we can learn from? What if we learn that every stream has an immortal diamond, instead of writing off people, labeling them, and then condemning them.
The time is NOW! Catholics, Methodists, Orthodox, Baptists, Anglicans, Episcopalians, Presbyterians.. We all need eachother. If we are willing to get along on the ONE thing that is important, Jesus Christ, His life, death, burial, and resurrection, then who cares at all about the rest? Oh.. the fundamentalists. But we need even them! We CAN all get along. But we have to decide to follow the Spirit’s leading.
