Forbid Not Those Who Aren’t With Us

I hear so many people slandering and condemning people who disagree with their views on scriptures. I see it online. I see it all over Facebook. Some of whom are performing miracles in Jesus name. Some who merely are a different denomination. Jesus allows for them, but doesn’t condone them.

Jesus had to deal with this same issue when He walked the earth. The disciples were rather displeased with another group and another guy who was not part of their group. Or denomination if you prefer. Well. Let’s look at the scriptures and see how Jesus handled it, eh?

Mark 9:38-41

And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part. For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Whoa. In other words, Jesus shut that spat down fast. But we today in the church world make it all about our understandings of the scriptures only. We neglect so much of what Jesus said about this kind of thing to sit there in our glass boxes and argue endlessly, when Jesus Himself said this: forbid them not.

How can we ignore the words of our king?! Is it ignorance or arrogance? Come on people. We sit there and argue, and during the interim people are going to hell! That’s not cool!

You can keep your denominations. You can keep your arguments. Jesus isn’t part of either. Jesus is out there chasing the lost, and inviting us to run with Him. I chose His invitation, and I don’t regret it.

We don’t have the right to say those people are going to hell. Especially not when We are too busy living like hell, and just concerned about our bloody doctrines, and too concerned about what’s going on in our lives, to live out the Gospel, and become like Jesus, the Word of God manifested on this earth.

Why are we all so busy hiding our lights? Jesus didn’t say we were allowed to do that. Jesus said we are the light of the world. A city on a hill. We have to stop putting a basket over His life in us and let Him be free to do as He wishes!
