I was sorting through a series of notecards left behind by my late grandfather. I have had them for a while, but he has been dead for many years now. And just in the past week they spoke to me, trying to grab my attention. Turns out, that the notecards were a gift from the Holy Spirit on what He desired me to learn now. I’ll start by simply typing them out for y’all to read.
I’m starting with 5 and 6, and one that is unnumbered. Italicized are his words, bold italics are mine.
(5) Many people reach a certain level and are satisfied, so they just flow and are part of this world calling themselves Christians.(this is more true today than it was even 10 years ago, though the winds of time are changing.) But we are not of this world, we hold ambassador credentials from Heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:20 In our physical life we are always changing and the same is true of Christianity. We cannot remain the same from one day to the next.
(6) I have tried to fit God and what He wants of me into a kind of Box so that I can understand and obey Him.(Don’t we all, when we think about it? That’s why we have so many denominations, and doctrines, and disagreements, which the Bible indicates the lack of God’s support of these..) The trouble is that God doesn’t fit in my box, so instead of walking by sight[mine], I am forced to walk by faith and let God deal with each minute for and through me.
And for the numberless..
Are we willing to say to God, “Anything you want God, no matter what, even if it does not agree with my doctrine, my friends, and everything that is going on around me, I want to live my life with you by faith.
This coming from a mature christian. Wow it’s deep and convicting. The ability to say anything God desires, even if it disagrees with my doctrine? That’s something God was dealing with me on.. And to most that I know within the church, it would be considered the highest form of heresy. After all, God won’t tell you anything against the Bible right? He might… At least against your understanding of it.
The Bible is a living Book of the Spirit. There are many imitations out there, which tend to have a life of their own. No witch can write a book of their own power and spells without imbuing it with spirit at the same time. The Bible is the book that guides us. Not a book of rules and laws that we are told to follow. Saint James was clear: Let those who live by the law, follow the WHOLE LAW. We are told that if we are guilty of breaking even one of the smallest points of the law, we are guilty of breaking the whole law. The Law is composed of 603 statutes of Holiness, and 10 commandments. All to be followed all the time for your whole life. You tell me, is this possible? NOPE!!!
Jesus took the law, and made it so that we could follow two and be okay. The fulfillment of the law is Love. He said it Himself. The greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And the second is like it, to love your neighbor as yourself. Upon these hang the whole law and the prophets. So if instead, we just focus on becoming Love, as Christ was, as God is.. Then we will have something worth giving out in the world. A true relationship with our Father, the Creator who loves us so..
Let’s stop getting caught up in doctrines, and focus on the present Good to do, which is loving God and loving people. The Bible shows us how to love people. Let the words of Jesus guide us. Lets ignore all else but the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It’s not easy. But it is doable.
