“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.”Psalms 122:1 KJV
Tonight I ask, do we look forward to church? Or is it something we do because have to?
I mean seriously. Is church a duty? Or is it a social club in which we give lip service to God?
For me, personally, years went by where I was there to see friends, or because it was a duty. Many times I didn’t want to go. Then I found my church home, and as years went by, I slowly began to go there instead. Then, about a month ago, I committed to it. I committed to being there for services, and for discipleship meetings. My wife and I began getting involved. Last week, our pastor went out of town, I came down pretty sick, and I didn’t go. I missed a week and a half. Then tonight I went. And as I stepped through the doors, and greeted my pastor, the only greeting I could even have came from the verse in psalm 122. I stated: Behold! We have come to the House of the Lord.
For a change, I truly noticed that I don’t just look forward to church anymore. I am glad when I get to say , Come, let us go to the House of the Lord. I am glad when my pastor texts me to remind me of the Friday morning Discipleship meetings. And I am glad when God speaks to me, not only in His house, but when I’m out of His house, for His Spirit goes with me.
So I ask again, are you glad to go to the house of the Lord?
